1935 Texas Independence Centennial Half BU

In 1935, the United States minted a silver half dollar to honor the centennial of Texas independence. This coin, struck with a purity of 0.900 silver, contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal and showcases one of the most complex and detailed designs in American coinage. The front of the coin displays a bold five-pointed star positioned directly behind a perched eagle, representing the Lone Star State. This side also incorporates traditional mottos, including the word Liberty and the phrase In God We Trust. On the reverse, the design features a kneeling, winged figure of Victory. Flanking this central figure are two small medallions containing the portraits of Stephen Austin and General Sam Houston, two pivotal figures in the region's history. The design also pays tribute to the famous battle cry, displaying the words Remember the Alamo alongside the 1935 date and the half dollar denomination.
