Struck in 90 percent silver at the Denver Mint, this 1936 commemorative half dollar celebrates the centennial of Texas independence. The coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal and survives in brilliant uncirculated condition, offering a remarkably preserved look at one of the most complex designs in United States coinage. The obverse side of the coin displays a bold five-pointed star positioned directly behind a standing eagle. The reverse features an elaborate allegorical scene centered on a kneeling, winged figure of Victory. Flanking this central figure are two small portrait medallions depicting Texas founders Stephen F. Austin and General Sam Houston. Legible inscriptions integrated into the design include the dual dates 1836 to 1936, the phrase REMEMBER THE ALAMO, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR.
