This 1936 silver half dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint, commemorates the legendary American pioneer Daniel Boone. Containing 0.3617 ounces of silver, this coin is part of a limited mintage of just 9,800 pieces. The issue honors Boone's early travels through the Kentucky wilderness, which he explored from 1769 to 1771, eventually leading to the founding of Boonesboro in 1775. The obverse of the coin displays a stylized, left-facing portrait of Daniel Boone. The reverse features a dramatic narrative scene showing Boone standing face-to-face with Chief Black Fish of the Chillicothe tribe, representing the peace negotiated between them. In the background, the Boonesboro blockhouse stands on the left, while a sun rises on the right, symbolizing the dawn of a new era.
