This 1936 silver half dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint, commemorates the legacy of Daniel Boone, a prominent pioneer in early American folklore. Crafted from 0.900 fine silver, this piece contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. The issue is remarkably scarce, with a total mintage of just 5,006 coins. This particular specimen has survived in an outstanding state of preservation, certified by professional graders as Mint State 65. The obverse of the coin features an idealized profile of Daniel Boone looking toward the left. The reverse presents a dramatic narrative scene showing Boone standing face-to-face with Chief Blackfish of the Chillicothe tribe, symbolizing their historic peace agreement. To the left of the figures stands the Boonesboro blockhouse, while a stylized sun rises on the right. Designed by Augustus Lukeman, the imagery honors Boone's extensive frontier explorations, which included a 1763 journey through Florida, travels in Kentucky from 1769 to 1771, a colonization attempt in 1773, and the eventual founding of Boonesboro in 1775.
