In 1937, the Philadelphia Mint produced a striking silver half dollar to honor the centenary of Texas independence. This issue is notable for its exceptionally low production run, with only 6,571 of these pieces struck. Struck in 90% silver, each coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal and is preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition. The coin features an intricate and highly detailed design on both sides. The obverse presents an eagle positioned in front of a prominent, five-pointed star, which represents the Lone Star State. On the reverse, the central focus is a kneeling, winged figure of Victory. Flanking this central figure are two small portrait medallions depicting Stephen Austin and General Sam Houston, the foundational figures of the Texas Republic. The date 1937 is clearly visible, marking this specific release within the multi-year commemorative series.
