1939-D Jefferson Nickel Avg Circ
Introduced just before the onset of the 1940s, this five-cent piece represents an early chapter in one of America's most enduring coin series. Struck at the Denver Mint in 1939, this coin carries the 'D' mint mark on its reverse. It offers a tangible look at the nation's circulating currency from the late depression era, preserved in average circulated condition. The obverse of the coin displays a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Accompanying his likeness are the familiar inscriptions 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and 'LIBERTY', alongside the 1939 year of issue. Turning the coin over reveals Monticello, Jefferson's famous Virginia estate. The reverse design also features the traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' positioned above the dome, with the denomination 'FIVE CENTS' and the issuing country 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' framing the architectural vignette.
