1939-D Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1939 Brilliant Unc

The 1939 Jefferson nickel represents an early entry in one of America's most enduring coin series. Struck at the Denver Mint, this particular issue is highly notable due to its relatively low mintage of just 3,514,000 pieces. Finding this coin in Brilliant Uncirculated condition offers a wonderful glimpse into the early years of the design, preserving the crisp details just as they emerged from the coining press over eight decades ago. Designed by Felix O. Schlag, the coin features a dignified left-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse. Surrounding the third president are the traditional inscriptions of liberty and trust. The reverse displays a detailed depiction of Monticello, Jefferson's famous Virginia estate, anchored by the national motto of unity and the coin's face value. This early Denver strike, marked with a 'D', remains a fascinating artifact from the eve of the Second World War.
