1941-D Jefferson Nickel BU
Struck on the eve of the United States' entry into World War II, this 1941 Jefferson nickel from the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American coinage. The obverse displays a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the nation's third president, facing left. This side is framed by the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY and the date, alongside the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of Monticello, Jefferson's famous Virginia estate. Below the neoclassical mansion, the word MONTICELLO is clearly inscribed, accompanied by the denomination FIVE CENTS and the issuing country, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The Denver Mint's presence is marked by the letter D, while the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM arches over the top of the design. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the original design elements as they were first struck in Denver.
