1942 Lincoln Cent Proof

0.0000 troy oz 1942 Proof - 60

In 1942, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited number of proof coins, including this exceptional copper cent. Unlike standard coins made for circulation, proof strikes are crafted with polished dies and blanks, resulting in sharp details and reflective surfaces that highlight the artistry of the design. The front of the coin features the classic profile of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. Above his portrait, the familiar motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed, while LIBERTY stands to his left, and the date 1942 is positioned to his right. This iconic depiction was created by Victor David Brenner. On the reverse side, the design features two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination ONE CENT and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is positioned at the very top, completing a design that defined American pocket change for decades. This specific coin has been graded in Proof 60 condition, preserving its original wartime craftsmanship.
