1943 Lincoln Cent MS-66 PCGS

During a period of global conflict, the United States Mint made a temporary and historic shift in the composition of its minor coinage. This 1943 Lincoln cent is a striking example of that era, struck in zinc-plated steel rather than the traditional copper alloy. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue represents a massive wartime production effort that resulted in over 84 million pieces being struck. The obverse of the coin features the classic portrait of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Victor David Brenner. Legible inscriptions on this face include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date of 1943. The reverse displays Brenner's iconic design of two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination ONE CENT and the country name UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This particular specimen is preserved in an exceptional state of preservation, certified as Mint State 66 (MS-66).
