1949 Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1949 Brilliant Unc

The 1949 Jefferson nickel represents a classic era of mid-century American pocket change, preserved here in brilliant uncirculated condition. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this five-cent piece displays the crisp details of its original design, free from the wear of circulation. The obverse features a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, facing left. This depiction is accompanied by the familiar national mottos and the date of production. On the reverse, the coin features Monticello, Jefferson's historic Virginia estate. The building is rendered in fine detail, showing the dome and portico of the neoclassical mansion. The inscriptions on this side include the traditional Latin motto meaning out of many, one, along with the denomination and the issuing nation. This coin offers a wonderful opportunity to study the artistry of Felix O. Schlag, whose work has graced the five-cent piece for generations.
