0.0000 troy oz 1950 Almost Unc

During the mid-century era, the Denver Mint produced a five-cent piece that has captured the attention of coin enthusiasts for generations. This 1950 Jefferson nickel, preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, represents a fascinating moment in American coinage. Struck in a base metal alloy, the coin remains a classic example of twentieth-century utility and design. The obverse features a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, designed by Felix O. Schlag. Accompanying this portrait are the familiar inscriptions of liberty and faith, with "LIBERTY" and the date "1950" positioned on the right, and the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the left. On the reverse, Schlag's design depicts Monticello, the historic Virginia estate of Thomas Jefferson. The building is centered on the coin, flanked by the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above and the denomination "FIVE CENTS" below. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" curve along the bottom rim, while the distinct "D" mint mark is positioned to the right of the building, indicating its origin at the Denver facility.
