This copper cent from 1950 represents a classic era of American pocket change. Struck at the Denver Mint, this specimen survives in a brilliant uncirculated state, preserving the bright red luster of its original copper composition. The coin belongs to the long-running Lincoln Cent series, which has been a staple of daily commerce for generations. The obverse features a detailed portrait of Abraham Lincoln looking toward the right. Above his likeness, the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible, flanked by the word "LIBERTY" and the 1950 date of manufacture. This familiar design was originally created by Victor David Brenner. On the reverse, the coin displays its denomination of "ONE CENT" and the country of origin, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Two stylized wheat ears frame these central inscriptions, a design element that gave these early Lincoln cents their popular nickname.
