1953-S Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1953 Brilliant Unc

This five cent piece from 1953 represents a classic era of mid-century American coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this copper and nickel alloy coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showing off the original luster and detail of its design just as it appeared decades ago. The obverse of the coin displays a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States. Accompanying his likeness are the familiar inscriptions of trust and freedom, reading "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the 1953 year of issue. On the reverse, the design features a detailed depiction of Monticello, the historic Virginia estate of Jefferson. Below the home, the words "FIVE CENTS" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are clearly struck, with the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" resting above the building's dome. The distinctive "S" mint mark is also visible, denoting its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
