The 1954 Lincoln cent struck at the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of American pocket change. Crafted from copper, this particular specimen is certified in an exceptional Mint State 66 condition, boasting the highly desirable Red designation. This classification indicates that the coin has retained the vast majority of its original, bright coppery glow from the day it was struck, escaping the natural brown toning that typically darkens copper over the decades. On the obverse, the coin features the iconic profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the portrait are the familiar inscriptions of faith and freedom, with "IN GOD WE TRUST" arching above the president and "LIBERTY" positioned to his left. The date 1954 is stamped on the right, directly above the "S" mint mark, which denotes its origin at the San Francisco facility. The reverse side showcases the traditional "Wheat Penny" design, also envisioned by Brenner. Two stylized stalks of wheat frame the central inscriptions, which state the denomination of "ONE CENT" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
