In 1955, the Philadelphia Mint produced a run of 7,888,000 Jefferson nickels. Because these coins were struck for everyday commerce, finding an example today that has escaped the wear and tear of circulation is a delightful discovery for coin enthusiasts. This particular specimen has been professionally graded as Mint State 66 (MS-66), indicating an extraordinary level of preservation with minimal marks and a beautiful, original luster from the coining press. The obverse of the coin features the classic profile of Thomas Jefferson, accompanied by the familiar national mottos "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the 1955 year of issue.
