This mid-century coin features the debut of the Lincoln Memorial on its reverse, a detailed depiction crafted by Frank Gasparro. This architectural tribute replaced the long-running wheat ears design and was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. On the obverse, the familiar right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln remains the central focus. Originally created by Victor David Brenner, this portrait is accompanied by the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the date 1959. The reverse displays the grand memorial building, surrounded by the traditional legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT. Struck in a composition of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc, this particular specimen is preserved in Gem Proof quality.
