1963-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1963 Brilliant Unc

In 1963, the Denver Mint struck this classic Lincoln Cent in a traditional alloy of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent composed of tin and zinc. This brilliant uncirculated specimen showcases the rich red luster characteristic of freshly minted copper from the mid-century era, preserving the sharp details of its design just as it looked when it first left the coining press. The obverse features the iconic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the portrait are the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1963 date and the D mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is depicted. This reverse design was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008, replacing the earlier wheat ears motif. It features the monumental structure alongside the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination, ONE CENT.
