1964 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1964 Brilliant Unc

The 1964 Lincoln Cent represents a fascinating moment in American coinage, displaying a vibrant red copper luster that remains highly captivating to observers. This coin features the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner. Legible inscriptions surrounding the president include the words LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date 1964. Turning the coin over reveals the detailed depiction of the Lincoln Memorial, which was designed by Frank Gasparro. This reverse design was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. The inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint without a mint mark, this coin is composed of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it offers a wonderful look at the craftsmanship of mid-twentieth-century American minting.
