This 1965 Jefferson nickel represents an extraordinary survivor from that era, having achieved a certified grade of Mint State 68 (MS-68). The high grade indicates a coin preserved in nearly flawless condition, showcasing the original design details with incredible clarity. The obverse of the coin features the classic profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Surrounding his likeness are the traditional national mottos, including the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the word "LIBERTY" alongside the 1965 date. On the reverse, the design displays Monticello, Jefferson's historic Virginia estate. The depiction of the neoclassical mansion is accompanied by the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above the dome, with the denomination "FIVE CENTS" and the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," anchored below the building.
