1967 Jefferson Nickel SMS MS-68 CAMEO NGC

0.0000 troy oz 1967 MS-68 (NGC)

During the mid-century era, the United States Mint produced Special Mint Sets, creating coins with a distinct finish that stands out from regular circulating coinage. This 1967 Jefferson nickel, struck at the Philadelphia Mint without a mint mark, represents a remarkably well-preserved survivor from a mintage of 1,860,000 pieces. Graded at an exceptional Mint State 68 with a Cameo designation, it displays a striking visual contrast between the frosted raised details and the mirror-like fields. The obverse of the coin features the classic profile of Thomas Jefferson, accompanied by the legible inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY 1967". On the reverse, the historic Monticello estate is depicted with sharp definition, accented by the initials "FS" below the building. This particular specimen highlights the peak of production quality achieved for the Special Mint Set series in the late 1960s.
