The 1969-S Lincoln Cent stands as a bright example of modern United States coinage, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This particular coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, displaying the vibrant red luster characteristic of freshly minted copper. Composed of 95 percent copper with a 5 percent blend of tin and zinc, this penny represents the traditional metal alloy used before the transition to zinc-core planchets in the early 1980s. The obverse features the historic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible inscriptions surround the president, including the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST above his head, the word LIBERTY to his left, and the date 1969 paired with the S mint mark to his right. On the reverse, the coin displays the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro, which served as the standard reverse for the one-cent denomination from 1959 to 2008.
