1971-D Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1971 Brilliant Unc

The 1971 Jefferson nickel struck at the Denver Mint offers a remarkably clear look at one of the most enduring designs in United States coinage. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, this piece showcases the sharp details of the engraving just as it looked when it first left the coining press over a half-century ago. On the obverse, a classic profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson faces left. Surrounding his likeness are the familiar inscriptions of national identity and freedom, including "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the 1971 date and the "D" mint mark representing the Denver facility. Turning the coin over reveals Monticello, the historic Virginia estate of the third American president. The reverse design captures the neoclassical architecture of the home with impressive precision. It is framed by the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above the dome, while the denomination "FIVE CENTS" and the issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are clearly struck along the bottom.
