The 1971-D Lincoln Cent represents a classic era of American pocket change, struck at the Denver Mint in a traditional alloy of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent composed of tin and zinc. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original red luster just as it looked when it left the coining press over five decades ago. The obverse of the coin showcases the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a timeless design created by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible inscriptions surround the president, including the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, the word LIBERTY, the year 1971, and the D mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse, the coin features the Lincoln Memorial, a design by Frank Gasparro that was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. The detailed engraving captures the grand monument, accompanied by the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE CENT, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
