The 1972 Lincoln Cent shines with a rich, reddish copper glow that highlights its classic mid-twentieth-century design. Struck in Philadelphia, this coin is composed of an alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc. It represents a beautifully preserved example of modern American pocket change, kept in brilliant uncirculated condition. On the obverse, the familiar right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln dominates the field. This side bears the prominent inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the date of 1972. The design is the work of Victor David Brenner, whose portrait of the president has graced the penny for generations. The reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial, a design by Frank Gasparro that was minted from 1959 to 2008.
