The 1973-D Lincoln Cent offers a wonderful window into the United States Mint's modern coinage traditions. Struck at the Denver Mint, this particular coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining the vibrant red luster characteristic of freshly minted copper. Its composition consists of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent made of tin and zinc. The obverse features the iconic right-facing profile of Abraham Lincoln, originally designed by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible inscriptions surround the portrait, including the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, the word LIBERTY, and the 1973 date accompanied by the D mint mark. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro stands out. This depiction of the famous Washington, D.C. monument was utilized on the penny from 1959 to 2008. The reverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination ONE CENT, and the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
