The 1973 Jefferson nickel represents a classic era of modern American pocket change, preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This five cent piece features the artwork of Felix O. Schlag, showcasing a clean and crisp presentation of the mid twentieth century design that became a staple of daily commerce. On the obverse, a dignified profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson looks toward the left. The design is accompanied by the familiar national mottos of trust and liberty, alongside the 1973 production year. Because this coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not display a mint mark. The reverse of the coin is dedicated to Monticello, the historic Virginia estate of Thomas Jefferson. The detailed depiction of the neoclassical mansion is centered on the coin, flanked by the traditional inscriptions identifying the denomination as five cents and the issuing nation as the United States of America. The Latin motto celebrating unity is also clearly visible above the dome of the estate.
