The 1973-S Lincoln Cent stands as a striking example of modern American proof coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin is composed of a traditional alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc. As a Gem Proof specimen, it displays the sharp details and polished surfaces characteristic of specialized proof manufacturing techniques. The obverse of the coin features the familiar bust of Abraham Lincoln facing right, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Above the portrait, the timeless motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the word "LIBERTY" sits to the left of the image. The year 1973 and the "S" mint mark are positioned clearly on the right side. On the reverse side, the design showcases two stylized wheat ears framing the central inscriptions. The denomination "ONE CENT" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are prominently displayed alongside the Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
