1976 Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1976 Brilliant Unc

The 1976 Jefferson nickel stands as a familiar yet fascinating piece of United States coinage from the nation's bicentennial year. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this five-cent piece is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, capturing the sharp details of its original engraving just as it looked when it first entered circulation. On the obverse, the coin displays a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. This side is framed by the traditional inscriptions of faith and freedom, including "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the year 1976. The design was originally created by Felix O. Schlag. The reverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of Monticello, Jefferson's famous neoclassical estate in Virginia. The name "MONTICELLO" is clearly inscribed beneath the building, surrounded by the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the issuing authority, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", with the denomination "FIVE CENTS" anchored at the bottom.
