1978 Clad Eisenhower Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 1978 Brilliant Unc

The 1978 Eisenhower dollar represents the final year of the traditional large-sized United States dollar coins. Struck at the Philadelphia mint, this coin features a copper-nickel clad composition, consisting of outer layers of 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel bonded to a core of pure copper. On the obverse, the profile of Dwight D. Eisenhower faces left. This side bears the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1978 date. The reverse design commemorates the historic moon landing, depicting an eagle holding an olive branch in its talons as it descends toward the lunar surface. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the face value "ONE DOLLAR" frame this celestial scene.
