1978-D Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1978 Brilliant Unc

The 1978 Jefferson nickel struck at the Denver Mint offers a crisp look at one of America's most enduring twentieth-century coin designs. Created by artist Felix O. Schlag, this five-cent piece showcases a classic left-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson on its obverse. Surrounding the third president's likeness are the familiar inscriptions of national identity, including the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the word "LIBERTY" alongside the 1978 production year. Turning the coin over reveals Monticello, the famous Virginia estate of Thomas Jefferson. This detailed architectural vignette dominates the reverse side, anchored by the traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above the dome. Below the estate, the inscriptions clearly denote the face value as "FIVE CENTS" and identify the issuing nation as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, this modern coin retains its original luster and sharp design details just as it emerged from the Denver coin presses.
