1978-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1978 Brilliant Unc

The 1978-D Lincoln Cent stands as a bright example of modern American coinage, struck at the Denver Mint. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original red copper luster. Composed of 95 percent copper with the remaining 5 percent made of tin and zinc, this coin represents the traditional metal composition used before the transition to zinc-core cents in the early 1980s. The obverse features the historic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the portrait are the familiar inscriptions of liberty and trust, along with the 1978 date and the small letter D indicating its Denver origin. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is showcased. This reverse design was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008, celebrating the president's legacy with a detailed depiction of the monument, framed by the national motto and the denomination.
