The 1980 Lincoln Cent struck at the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American pocket change, boasting a traditional composition of 95 percent copper alongside a 5 percent blend of tin and zinc. This specific piece is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original red luster just as it looked when it left the coining press over four decades ago. The obverse features the historic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible on the front are the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY, the date 1980, and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST. A small D mint mark below the date indicates its origin from the Denver facility. On the reverse, the coin displays the Lincoln Memorial, a design by Frank Gasparro that graced the one-cent piece from 1959 to 2008. This detailed depiction of the monument is accompanied by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination ONE CENT, and the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM.
