1980 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1980 Brilliant Unc

The 1980 Lincoln Cent represents a classic era of American pocket change, struck in a traditional alloy composed of 95 percent copper alongside a 5 percent mixture of tin and zinc. This particular coin shines in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the original red luster of the copper as it emerged from the Philadelphia Mint over four decades ago. On the obverse, the right facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln dominates the coin, a historic design originally created by Victor David Brenner. The legendary president is accompanied by the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY and the date 1980, with the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST arching above his profile. The reverse side showcases the Lincoln Memorial, a detailed architectural depiction designed by Frank Gasparro that served as the standard backing for the penny from 1959 to 2008. Nestled above the monument is the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, while the outer rim displays the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE CENT.
