1981 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1981 Brilliant Unc

The 1981 Lincoln Cent represents a classic era of American pocket change, struck in a traditional alloy composed of 95 percent copper alongside a 5 percent blend of tin and zinc. This particular specimen is preserved in a Brilliant Uncirculated state, retaining its original red luster just as it looked when it left the Philadelphia Mint over four decades ago. The obverse features the iconic right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a masterpiece created by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the president's likeness are the familiar inscriptions of national identity and liberty, including "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY", alongside the 1981 date. On the reverse, the coin displays the Lincoln Memorial, a design by Frank Gasparro that graced the penny continuously from 1959 to 2008. This detailed architectural rendering is framed by the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE CENT".
