1982-P Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1982 Brilliant Unc

The 1982 Jefferson nickel struck at the Philadelphia Mint offers a crisp look at one of America's most enduring twentieth century coin designs. This five cent piece remains in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original engraving just as it emerged from the minting press. On the obverse, a left facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson dominates the field. The president's likeness is accompanied by the familiar national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the word LIBERTY and the 1982 year of issue. The small letter P indicates its origin at the Philadelphia facility. The reverse of the coin showcases Monticello, the famous Virginia estate of Thomas Jefferson. The neoclassical plantation home is depicted in detailed relief, centered above the denomination FIVE CENTS and the country name UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Arching over the top of the design is the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, completing a classic composition created by artist Felix O. Schlag.
