The 1984-S Lincoln Cent stands as a striking example of modern American proof coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin features a composition of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc. As a Gem Proof issue, it showcases a level of detail and polish that elevates a familiar everyday design into a true work of art. The obverse of the coin presents the classic right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, originally created by designer Victor David Brenner. Arcing above the bust is the familiar motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", while the word "LIBERTY" and the date "1984" flank the portrait. Just below the date, the "S" mint mark indicates its origin in San Francisco. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is rendered with remarkable clarity. This depiction of the famous monument was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008.
