1986-D Jefferson Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1986 Brilliant Unc

The 1986 Jefferson nickel, struck at the Denver Mint, represents a classic era of modern United States pocket change. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of a design that has been a staple of American commerce for decades. Made primarily of copper, the five-cent piece showcases the work of designer Felix O. Schlag. On the obverse, a profile portrait of Thomas Jefferson faces left. Accompanying his likeness is the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1986 mint date and the D mint mark representing the Denver facility. The reverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of Monticello, the historic Virginia home designed by Jefferson himself. The building's name, MONTICELLO, is inscribed directly beneath the estate, flanked by the denomination FIVE CENTS and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, arches gracefully over the top of the dome, completing this tribute to one of America's founding figures.
