1989-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1989 Brilliant Unc

The 1989-D Lincoln Cent offers a fascinating look at the modern era of American pocket change. Struck at the Denver Mint, this coin features a brilliant uncirculated red finish that highlights the precise details of its design. While commonly associated with copper, cents from this era are actually composed of 99.2 percent zinc with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper, resulting in a total weight of 2.5 grams. The front of the coin displays the classic right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner. Legible inscriptions on this side include the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the word LIBERTY, the 1989 date, and the D mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse, the coin features the Lincoln Memorial, a design by Frank Gasparro that was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. The back of the coin is inscribed with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination ONE CENT, and the traditional Latin phrase E-PLURIBUS UNUM.
