The 1989-D Lincoln Cent offers a fascinating look at the modern era of American pocket change. Struck at the Denver Mint, this coin features a brilliant uncirculated red finish that highlights the precise details of its design. While commonly associated with copper, cents from this era are actually composed of 99.2 percent zinc with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper, resulting in a total weight of 2.5 grams. The front of the coin displays the classic right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner.
