1990 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1990 Brilliant Unc

The 1990 Lincoln Cent stands as a bright, uncirculated example of modern American coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia mint, this piece displays a vibrant red luster that highlights the sharp details of its classic design. Though commonly referred to as a copper cent, the coin actually consists of a zinc core, making up 99.2 percent of its composition, with a thin outer layer of copper representing the remaining 0.8 percent. It weighs exactly 2.5 grams. On the obverse, the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln is presented, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner. This side features the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1990 date. The reverse side, designed by Frank Gasparro, features the Lincoln Memorial, a design that was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. If you look closely at the center of the monument, you can see the tiny representation of the Lincoln statue inside. The reverse is framed by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE CENT, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
