The 1993 Lincoln Cent, struck at the Denver Mint, offers a brilliant glimpse into modern American coinage. This particular specimen retains its original red luster from the coining press, showcasing the classic design elements with exceptional clarity. Though commonly referred to as a copper cent, the coin actually consists of a zinc core comprising 99.2 percent of its structure, wrapped in a thin outer layer of 0.8 percent copper. This composition keeps the total weight of the coin at precisely 2.5 grams. The obverse features the historic right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, originally created by Victor David Brenner. Legible inscriptions surrounding the bust include the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with LIBERTY and the production year of 1993 accompanied by the D mint mark. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is depicted. This reverse design was utilized by the United States Mint for half a century, from 1959 to 2008. It features the traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, positioned above the monument, while the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE CENT frame the central image.
