1998-S Lincoln Cent Gem Proof (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1998 Gem Proof

The 1998-S Lincoln Cent stands as a striking example of modern American coining, struck in a rich copper alloy consisting of 95 percent copper with the remaining 5 percent composed of tin and zinc. Minted at the San Francisco facility, this coin features a highly polished proof finish that highlights the deep, reflective surfaces and sharp details of the classic design, showcasing a vibrant red coloration. On the obverse, the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, originally created by Victor David Brenner, is accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1998 year of issue and the S mint mark. The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, depicts the Lincoln Memorial, a design that graced the one cent coin continuously from 1959 to 2008. This side bears the traditional legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT.
