In 1999, the United States Mint embarked on a celebrated circulating coin program, releasing this brilliant uncirculated quarter struck at the Philadelphia facility. The coin belongs to the venerable Washington Quarter series, which originally debuted in 1932 to mark two centuries since the birth of George Washington. Today, this series stands as the second-longest running in American coinage history, surpassed only by the Lincoln cent. The obverse features the familiar portrait of George Washington, accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the face value of QUARTER DOLLAR. The Philadelphia mint mark, a simple letter P, is also visible on this side. The reverse design honors New Jersey, displaying the year of its statehood, 1787, alongside the year of release, 1999. The central theme highlights the state's historical role with the inscription CROSSROADS OF THE REVOLUTION.
