The year 2000 Lincoln Cent struck at the Denver Mint offers a crisp look at one of the most enduring designs in American pocket change. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with its original red luster, highlighting the fine details of a coin that has been a staple of daily life. Weighing 2.5 grams, the coin is composed primarily of zinc, at 99.2 percent, with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper. The obverse features the iconic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible inscriptions surround the president, including the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST arching above, LIBERTY to his left, and the year 2000 paired with the D mint mark representing the Denver facility to his right. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is rendered in sharp detail. This depiction of the famous Washington, D.C. monument was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. The reverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA along the top rim, the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM just above the monument roof, and the denomination ONE CENT along the bottom edge.
