2001 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 2001 Brilliant Unc

The 2001 Lincoln Cent stands as a bright, modern example of one of the longest-running and most recognizable coin series in United States history. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin displays a brilliant uncirculated finish with its original red luster intact. Weighing 2.5 grams, the physical composition of this issue is primarily zinc, making up 99.2 percent of the coin, with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper. On the obverse, the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, originally created by Victor David Brenner, remains the central focus. This side is framed by the familiar inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the date of 2001. The reverse features Frank Gasparro's detailed depiction of the Lincoln Memorial, a design that was minted continuously from 1959 to 2008. The classical structure is accompanied by the traditional legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT, inviting observers to appreciate the architectural symmetry captured on such a small scale.
