2002 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 2002 Brilliant Unc

The 2002 Lincoln Cent represents a modern chapter in one of the most enduring coin series in United States history. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the bright red luster characteristic of freshly minted zinc and copper. Composed of 99.2 percent zinc with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper, the coin weighs exactly 2.5 grams. The obverse features the iconic right-facing profile of Abraham Lincoln, a design originally created by Victor David Brenner. Clearly visible inscriptions on this side include the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the word LIBERTY and the date of issuance, 2002. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial is depicted in detailed relief, a design by Frank Gasparro that graced the penny from 1959 to 2008. The reverse inscriptions frame the monument with the phrases UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM, while the denomination ONE CENT is boldly displayed at the bottom.
