2004-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 2004 Brilliant Unc

The 2004 Lincoln Cent struck at the Denver Mint represents a modern chapter in one of the most enduring coin designs in United States history. This particular issue shines with a brilliant uncirculated red luster, highlighting the crisp details of its production. Though commonly referred to as a copper coin, its actual physical makeup consists of 99.2 percent zinc with a thin outer plating of 0.8 percent copper. The obverse displays the classic right facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the profile are the familiar inscriptions of trust and freedom, along with the 2004 date and the D mint mark indicating its Denver origin. On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro is rendered in sharp detail. This reverse design was a staple of the penny, minted continuously from 1959 to 2008, and features the traditional mottoes of unity and the face value of one cent.
