2006-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 2006 Brilliant Unc

The 2006 Lincoln Cent struck at the Denver Mint offers an exceptional look at a classic of modern American pocket change in its original, brilliant uncirculated state. Displaying a bright red copper color, this coin showcases the familiar profile of Abraham Lincoln facing right on the obverse. The legendary portrait, originally created by Victor David Brenner, is accompanied by the clear inscriptions of LIBERTY and the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 2006 date and the D mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse, the coin features the Lincoln Memorial design by Frank Gasparro, which served as the standard reverse for the cent from 1959 to 2008. The detailed depiction of the monument includes the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT. This particular issue is composed of a core that is 99.2 percent zinc, plated with a thin outer layer of 0.8 percent copper, giving it the traditional warm appearance of its solid bronze predecessors.
