2010-P ATB Quarter Hot Springs National Park BU
In 2010, the United States Mint embarked on a journey to honor the nation's most cherished outdoor spaces through the America the Beautiful series. This Brilliant Uncirculated quarter, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, pays tribute to Hot Springs National Park. Established on April 20, 1832, this unique destination holds the distinction of being the smallest national park in the country, spanning an area of just 8.67 square miles. The reverse of the coin captures the essence of this historic Arkansas sanctuary. The design features the grand facade of the Hot Springs National Park headquarters building, fronted by a bubbling thermal fountain that represents the natural warm waters that have drawn visitors for generations. Surrounding this detailed scene are the inscriptions Hot Springs, Arkansas, 2010, and the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum. On the obverse, the coin displays the familiar portrait of Liberty. It carries the essential inscriptions of United States of America, Liberty, In God We Trust, and the denomination of Quarter Dollar. A small P mint mark indicates its origin from the Philadelphia facility, making this copper-nickel clad piece a fascinating study in how geography and history can be beautifully rendered on a small canvas.
