This 2011 proof edition, struck at the San Francisco Mint, celebrates Glacier National Park, a wilderness sanctuary established on February 22, 1897. Crafted with a polished finish, this copper-nickel coin showcases the dramatic natural beauty and native wildlife of Montana. The reverse side of the coin presents a detailed wildlife scene set against a grand mountain backdrop. A bison stands prominently in the foreground, while a mountain goat is positioned on the rugged terrain behind it, with the towering peaks of Reynolds Mountain rising in the distance. This scene is framed by the inscriptions GLACIER, MONTANA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the year 2011. On the obverse, the familiar portrait of George Washington is accompanied by the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR. The small S mint mark is also visible, indicating its origin from the San Francisco Mint. Composed of 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel, this coin is preserved in Gem Proof condition, highlighting the fine details of the engraving.
